Community Outreach
Helping the community
Everyone has the right to live in a great place, more importantly, everyone has the right to contribute to making the place where they already live great.
- Fred Kent
Since 2019, we’ve been actively collaborating with NGOs and organisations to make The Steps an inclusive and welcoming space. Our workshops and community events are designed to engage the wider public, while also creating meaningful experiences for the differently abled and individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds — communities that continue to find connection and value here.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working with organisations such as Angel Xpress Foundation, St Catherine's Home, Seva Charitable Trust, and TurTuk Valley School, along with local children from the basti. They’ve taken part in a wide range of art and craft sessions, hands-on workshops, and have been introduced to dance forms and performances they might not have otherwise accessed — from capoeira, Kathak, Odissi, and Bharatanatyam to flamenco and ballroom.

Many have also contributed to painting our murals and had the rare opportunity to engage directly with mural artists, as well as other inspiring creatives like Arzan Khambatta, through interactive workshops and community art experiences.

The Steps is a cycle- and wheelchair-friendly space, and we remain deeply committed to accessibility, inclusivity, and collective wellbeing.

As we gather once again — to heal, connect, and celebrate — we also mark a proud milestone for Mumbai’s public spaces. This festival is a tribute to ART & COMMUNITY, and a testament to what’s possible when a derelict corner transforms into a thriving, inclusive urban commons.

We look forward to continuing this journey with more collaborations in the years to come. If you know of an NGO that could benefit from our activities and would like to be part of this movement, please get in touch.

Other NGOs we teamed up with and welcomed at The Steps to create awareness: Gaet Counselling Centre for neurodivergent children and adults, Gen S Life - senior citizens, Autism awareness with Cafe Arpan, amongst others.
